Former Carnival Holiday Cruise Ship In Genoa

When we entered the port of Genoa, Italy early in the morning on May 3, 2010 we thought we saw the outline of a Carnival ship in the early morning mist. Later in the day we found out that what we had seen when entering the port was the former Carnival Holiday cruise ship, now named the Grand Holiday. The Carnival Holiday was transferred to Ibero Cruises, a joint subsidiary of Carnival Corporation & PLC and Orizonia Group, under the executive control of Costa Cruises Group, Carnival Corporation's European division.

The Grand Holiday was in Genoa being prepared for its first cruise later in May. According to Wikipedia, the Carnival Holiday was used after Hurricane Katrina as temporary housing for victims of the storm. The Carnival Holiday had sailed out of Mobile, Alabama prior to its being taken out of service and transferred to Ibero Cruises.
